There are an abundance of factions that can be found in Las Vegas, not to mention in the Marvel Universe. This highlights a few that are the most prominent within our game. We encourage you to app characters within these factions. If you have further questions about a particular faction, the wizards will be happy to answer them. S.H.I.E.L.D.The Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate has various bases around the world, the exact number of which is classified. In Las Vegas, they might be contacted via Nellis AFB. Their /real/ base, however, is hidden underground near the Hoover Dam. Agents are given missions both in Las Vegas and aiding in other areas. This particular base has been watching closely the movements of AIM and Hydra, attempting to thwart their plans. X-MENThese are the heroes that are not sanctioned by the government. Charles Xavier, still at the Institute in NYC, sensed the growing population of mutants in Nevada and the west coast, particularly in Las Vegas. He chose a handful of his X-men to send to Las Vegas with the mission of establishing a foothold there, spreading their influence and combating the Brotherhood. Perhaps in time to even create another institute… The Brimstone SocietyThe Brimstone Society is almost as old as the first casino in Las Vegas, started by a small group of mobsters and land owners who chuckled at how some viewed their chosen lifestyles of drinking, gambling, and making money off of the weak-minded. It still mostly consists of casino owners, politicians, and other prominent names within the city, acting as a social club. There's annual dues which are quite steep and ensure that only the wealthy remain within its numbers. There are four main groups within this faction: The Hearts (charming socialites), The Spades (masters of intrigue), The Diamonds (if they don't have the money, they can get it), and The Clubs (some might call them the muscle). While the 'numbered cards' might view themselves just as a social club, the 'face cards' have many plans. And what the Joker is up to is anyone's guess. The BrotherhoodWhere the X-men believe that mutants and mankind can learn to live side by side, the Brotherhood holds no such illusion. Humans fear mutants, and rightly so, since the mutants are powerful and superior, the rightful heirs of the world. They have been gaining popularity in Las Vegas, particularly in Mutant Town. The more suspicious casino owners are of their mutant patrons, the more humans mistreat their mutant neighbors, the more recruits the Brotherhood has. HYDRAAnother of SHIELD's best friends. Unlike A.I.M., HYDRA does not create the weapons so much as /use/ them. They use terrorist and subversive activities to attempt the achievement of world domination. Run behind-the-scenes by the Supreme Hydra (Baron Strucker), this group seeks to create a fascist world order. They're not as picky about membership as A.I.M. is: Must be an adult, pass a thorough background check, and swear a death-oath of loyalty. The upside to being a HYDRA minion is the cool technology you get to utilize in your acts of terror. |
